Do people still Square Dance?
Yes! Square dancing is a great activity for all ages: Do-Si-Squares has members from teens to octogenarians. Be active, learn a new skill, make friends and have fun- come Square Dancing!
Do I need to wear a puffy skirt or cowboy boots?
You can if you want! Traditional clothing is "admired, not required." Square dancing involves a lot of walking, so our dancers wear comfortable clothes and comfortable shoes. Square dancing is great exercise and a social activity, and much more fun than a treadmill!
What if I don't have a partner?
No worries! Square dancing is a great activity for singles. Dancers team up in groups of eight, called a "square," all working together. Our classes have volunteers, called "angels", that will step in to be your partner and help you enjoy!
What type of music is played?
All types: pop, country, rock and roll, oldies and hip-hop. You won't be stuck listening to one style, and they'll all be fun to dance to!
Can I just show up at a dance?
Last minute plans? You can just show up. Visitors are always welcomed. Are you new to Square Dancing? Part of the fun is the pace, and beginners might feel lost. So we offer weekly lessons, workshops, and special dances for our newest dancers. Check the Lesson Schedule, or contact us if you have any questions.
